You need to build the site, then add some affiliate links to it. More than likely they will have some banners and content boxes for you to choose from.
The ringtone market is completely and utterly saturated right now. I think alot of people are finding it hard to even break even

To run a ringtone site you dont need to run ads. Its about the ringtones and cellhpone stuff that money comes from.
Cellphone and ringtones are satuarated to the max. You would have better luck in the hosting or credit card affiliate game.
Everything is saturated. Mortgage, insurance, pharmacy, porn, proxy, gambling, payday loans, credit cards, dating, myspace sites, etc, etc. They all work, just gotta go where no one else is looking.

If you decide not to enter this market you could sell the domain name...sounds like there could be a demand for it. If you want a project to learn your affiliate marketing skills then why not start with ringtones? As for what steps to take,now there's a minefield!... Would suggest you get yourself a copy of a decent affiliate training manual.
