How to post banner ads in AdWords?

I just created a text ad and would like to know how I can submit an image and create a banner ad? When I was using AdWords setup wizard, there was no mention of images or banners or maybe I missed it somewhere? Also, do banner/image ads cost more per click than text ads?

Yes I believe the banner ads cost more than the text ads.

As for submitting them, I dont have too much experience with Adwords (more expenive then some alternatives, only put a few bucks into it) but check and make sure your not still in the "beginner mode". Somewhere in your backend account management there should be a place to go to an advanced mode of some sort where you can submit a picture banner ad.

    Hope this helps.

Banner ads cost more? How much more? Are they still charged per click or per # of impressions?

The text ads just look unattractive to me and I doubt I will have a lot of people clicking them especially when the keywords I'm using so far have only several thousand searches per month. I find myself more likely clicking a banner ad than a text ad but it also depends on where the text ad is published and how many people will see it.

I agree. And to answer your other questions, again I'm sorry but I'm not too knowledgeable on Adwords. So instead of taking a guess I went through some forums over at google and found a post of someone with the same question. A "pro" from their site answered this..

"As a general rule, banner ads and video ads are more expensive because they have to beat out the combined bids of the top 3 text ads (because they take up the space of 3 text ads), but, like everything, it depends on what you bid."

    Hope this helps.

First, if you use Google Adwords then it's better to say image ad than a banner ad. To use image ad just follow this step

Your account>Campaign>Ad Group>Ad Variation Tab>Click the Image ad link next to 'Create new ad.

Then Follow the form and fill it as per your needs.

And Second thing Image Ads cost same as text ads. To know more just go through with this link

As previous poster says, Google uses the term "image ad". Follow his steps to create one. Note that your campaign must be set to show on the content network.

Image ads on Google may or may not cost more than text.

I suggest you test with text ads first on the search network to see what works. Create image ads with text of best CTR text ads. But above all, learn or get someone to get you started on the right foot.

There is a button New ad and then I can choose Image ad, so I guess I am on a content network. Actually under the Networks tab, I have: Google search, Search partners and Content: automatic placements. I may try image ads later just to see if I'll get more quality visitors through them and I can also get better quality impressions with image ads.
