Better to pause or cancel account?

    Hi everyone,

I've been lurking here for over a year and finally have a question that has compelled me to register. :)

I've been running an AdWords campaign for 18 months. I prepay my advertising costs. I'd like to stop advertising for a bit (> 3 months), so I'm not planning to top up my account the next time I'm running low on funds.

Does Google mind if you pause all your campaigns for a lengthy period? Many of my keywords have QS 10/10, so I'd rather not cancel the account and have to start over later. I'm just wondering if Google will nag me or end up cancelling the account on me.

Just pause it. You'll probably want to come back later. Doesn't hurt to have it paused and Google doesn't mind as far as I know.

If Google doesn't care, I'll pause everything. Thanks for the responses.

Yes, definitely pause the account - may be some small decrease in qs but lot better than canceling the a/c.

What is your business? Depending on the niche, it will determine how much you will need to spend on your keywords (among other things as well).

You can pause your campaigns just like that. Google doesn't care about that. In fact you will be offered discounts / vouchers after some period of inactivity. So go ahead. cancelling is not necessary when you want to start the same after a few months.

You are free to pause any campaign when ever and for how ever long you like. My advise is don't cancel your account.

No way google will cancel your account. With a QS or 10, (as others have stated) they'll even offer vouchers.

Yes, you can log-in even after the account is cancelled.

I cancelled my account long back, but I still log-in to use the Adwords tools..:D.
