So, will it make us more money? Obviously it will make Google more money, but it would be nice if publisher earnings went up again. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4HyJPOVLd3I I like this comment on the video, it's a good question and I wouldn't mind knowing the answer.
First we'd have to know what networks they're talking about. So far I've only seen LESS money from other networks so I don't see how could external networks "maximize revenue" other than displaying even more targeted ads and more users will click on them so the quantity will compensate the quality or something...?
It's true that other ad networks do pay less, but I wonder if they might bid more to get onto premium Adsense spots.
External networks are simply other networks such as Adbrite, bidvertizer, etc. The problem in my opinion is that adsense decides which ads are best to display at any moment on any page depending on its best revenue. That is, if one ad will get adsense more money than another, either because it pays more per click or because it has a lot more chances to be clicked, then it will display it. How much the publisher revenue is, is probably not part of the equation when analysing which ads to display!
When I read the email I was hoping that it would increase the income. Why you all so negative? Google need publishers just as much as we need them.
I'm not negative, it's only that if an external ad network pays google more than any adwords ad it currently has, it will display the ad network ad, regardless of how much the publisher will get out of it. The adsense algorithm is based on google's part of the deal, not on the publisher's best interests. If both publisher and google best interests happen to match on occasions, then it's for the better, but it's a coincidence.
coincidence? not according to google That said I'm earning $10-15 a month so I'm unlikely to see a huge change in income :-(
google hasn't said anything about individual ads, just the networks. although, you can block an advertiser just like you've always been able to.
First thing that pops into my mind about this is what cut Google is getting from these other "external networks" to display those adverts and what are they having to pay to get into the program. But that's just me.
