The standards, like blogs, blog commenting, article submission, forum commenting, PR release, link exchange and directory submission are all being done by everyone. Do any of these or a new method seem to stand out for any of your results? Are some just not worth the effort anymore?

On that list, I put link exchanges and directory submissions last. Blog commenting on do follow blogs seems to work the best. I also like paid text link advertising, as long as the site you buy the link from is closely related to your own site, and doesn't have alot of spammy links.

Blog commenting is by far my best method. One comment can lead to thousands of backlinks sometimes. Good question.

Is blog commenting as effective when you use your name instead of a keyword in anchor? Most bloggers will reject your comment if it is obvious spam.

I own a lot of blogs. I have no problem letting someone use strong anchor text as their name as long as their comment is not spammy.

I would rather them do that then leave a url in their comment. IMO.

That's where we differ. I don't allow comments like that. I usually edit the name if I like the comment, or I delete it altogether.

linkbait is THE best method. Creating the content that's good enough to go viral also makes your site all the much better...two birds, one stone!

Blog commenting and article marketing seem to work best for me. Blog commenting is time consuming but article marketing can be automated via lot of tools.

I do both. For some of my sites I have seen good results with just article marketing if competition is low.

The best method for link building nowadays is surely blog commenting and article marketing as the links generated by these remains forever and not only drive you traffic but also PR and links juice.

Building a Firefox Add-on. The Twitter Toolbar I developed gets software distributors plugging my site, blog posts, and every time someone tweets with it I get a link (though now is a nofollow on Twitter).

Blogs and forum postings help to increase your profile and build general awareness, especially if the comments have value.

I think blog commenting and forum signature are the most easiest and fast methods of making backlinks.

When you guys go out looking for blogs to comment on, what's the best method to find them? Are there sites that search for related blogs, or do you just hit the search engines and go from there?

Article submissions to many different sites (although Ezine is clearly the best) work well for me.

I think post foruns is the best way.

Comment on blog at least I have been on the list of spam on some sites, or slow to allow the post.

And not that I've posted 10 times in a single site at the same time, that in many, but the KeywordLuv blocked me.
