Yes, but asking a support guy simply if you can embed videos, which is VERY common, as pretty much everyone has a blog with youtube videos, and actually creating a movie site linking to copywriiten videos is 2 completely different things. They can and have suspended accounts with movie sites, but they just haven't checked yours out yet.

I'd also like to throw in my 2 cents regarding removing the "powered by" link. I think the words themselves should stay for obvious branding purposes, but it shouldn't be a clickable link unless our affiliate id is allowed in it. If they are getting the traffic from one of our sites, then in fairness we should get credit for it.

There are only 2 types of people I can think of who would click the "powered link". The first is a potential publisher who says "Hey, this gateway thingy would be a great way to monetize my own site!" and they go off to check it out, in which case we should get credit if they sign up.

The second is a surfer who just wanted to see the movie or whatever unlock and clicks the powered link (instead of a survey link) because they are annoyed and then they are greeted by the cpalead homepage showing a bunch of surveys on the site basically telling that annoyed surfer that we are trying to make money from them. Make money from your visitors!

    Either way its bad.

Yeah, there are plenty of offers.

Just choose it carefully so you don't lose time and money, the thing about hostgator is that they are reliable and no one can deny it, their uptime is outstanding, I signed up with an offshore hosting company 2 hours ago and even though is too early to tell, the website is already down, well, maybe just my luck? :D

Yeah, offshore hosting is notoriously bad, especially those cheap deals you see all over DP that turns out to be just resellers trying to cram as much as they can on one server. There was one that had 75,000 sites on it! It was down for 3 days straight last time I checked...

Whoa 3 days? :D I was checking out a few deals here in Brazil, but their policies are alike Hostgator's. It's back online, it was down for 40 minutes. I'm going to keep tracking. :)

    PS: It's down again.. argh!

Use a free service like hosttracker to monitor your uptime. You'll be surprised of the downtime you don't notice while you're sleeping. ;)

Heh, i just got screwed with my host. And switched to hostgator yesterday.

Asked the guy, told him to check the videos etc. I showed him my exact site, it wasnt like i just said "Can i embed videos". He said it was OK aslong as i didnt have live streaming on there. But also to email .

Did that, they said it was ok.

So i went ahead, its probably only a matter of time and ill just have to be good with my backups :p.

@ wabec, hosting is crazy these days. I have switched around alot and finally realized that i will either stick to godaddy or fatcow- they are promising. If you have good experience with any other hosts then let me know! cheers

To be honest im sick of small hosts, ill pay $2 more per month and enjoy my live support and instant help.

Not sure about godaddy, but fatcow is pretty popular nowadays. Honestly i will never go anywhere unless they have 24/7 live support. Im not a complete moron, but i do have issues every now and again that only require a 5 second answer. But with small hosts the ticket will sit there for a couple of hours for that 5 second answer.

Anyway not really about CPALead just saying :p

I also thought that hostgator wouldnt suspend a site because of embeded movies, and was almost getting 6 months with them, but just yesterday my friend got a email from them saying theres to much linking to copywrited material on his website (he just do embeded videos also, no warez) and they are going to suspend it.

    So watch out.

At least they send an email before taking the site down, gives you time to pack your stuff and move. My friend lasted a month or so, a bit less maybe, so enjoy while you're there, its indeed a great host

Hostgator took my sites down without so much as a warning, and I had to jump through about 10,000 hoops to get them to let me backup my sites before they deleted my account, simply for the TV show sites. So if you're going to risk them, be sure to keep your backups updated.

Not so bad today, normally 20+ but still a steady 19% and the best hours have still to come.

    GRAND TOTAL / AVERAGE 329 63 $0.13 19%
