What method should i use to drive traffic to my site ?

 

Not sure. I'd advertise towards students trying to bypass their schools filters that prevent them from accessing facebook, youtube ect. It's really up to you, I'm not an expert.

Get yourself listed on sites that have huge lists of proxy sites. Just email the site owner with your link and hope they add you.

I've even seen people ask for clicks to 'support' the site but believe this is frowned upon by Google?

To drive traffic to your site you should do the following:

Submit your sites to proxy lists and topsites
Promote your sites via Yahoo Answers
Use google/yahoo groups to blast your proxies out on newsletters

To monetize a proxy site you should use Adsense on the homepage and use either Adversal or GlobalInteractive on the proxified page.

 

Not only is it frowned upon but it will also get you banned.

The best thing that I have seen is what http://megaupload.com/ did. They created their own ad network. It works very good for them and actually very good as an advertiser.

With your proxy site you have similar visitors. It should work for you too. Once you have it up and running you can contact affiliate managers in CPA networks. They will send you more than enough advertisers.
