Uh ohh...Ebay changes from commission to cpc

    Just got this email:

Ebay used to be my best earner. But now they seem to be hell bent on screwing over affiliates. I'll keep my fingers crossed, but I don't see this working out well. Much like the "quality" score for registrations, i suspect most of us will make much less now.

Maybe someone can help me by explaining how this will be a good thing. I want that warm fuzzy feeling back.
    :(

Ebay is done now. Did you read about the new seller policy?

I have often wondered if eBay really likes having an affiliate program or thinks it is really useful.

I have no idea if I am sending "quality" traffic or not. I do know that my traffic creates sales consistently over the month.

The bottom line is: Will I make more or less money from this change? Since Corporations are always trying to pay the least for the most they can get, my guess is that I will be making less money and therefore will slowly fade eBay off of the my sites.

Of course, I will not know until the program takes effect and is tested over the next six months or so.

I have worked hard for my eBay commissions and I would like them to continue...

Yes, here too. Hoping my traffic is considered good quality.
Hope this will still be a good program for us small publishers who are trying honestly to guide visitors to relevant products they may wish to buy.

We dropped ebay when they moved off of CJ. Had lots of chargebacks (like whole days) and whatnot while they were there and our CJ account manager went to bat for us a couple of times.

Well, eBay seems hell bent on becoming more and more like amazon.

So affiliates should have an easier time than ever switching to amazon.

I'm actually earning more with EPN than I ever did with eBay's program at CJ. This new Quality Click Pricing model could be a bad thing, but I'm not convinced that it definitely will be. It will smooth out the ups and downs in earnings that I see on a daily basis. In July my highest earning day was a 10000% increase over my lowest earning day, and those days had almost the same number of clicks. Is there a need for eBay to smooth out earnings for us? No, not really. Does this make EPN less transparent and therefore easier to rip publishers off? Yes, but that doesn't mean they will rip publishers off. If people aren't earning money, they aren't going to be advertising eBay for very long, period. If eBay wants their little editor kit ad box on every site pumping targeted traffic to their site, they have to be ready to pay for it.

Same here. I don't know who's counting what over at ePN HQ, but they're not very good at it.

PPC through ebay could be good but the bit the fact they wont state how much the PPC is going to be, is rather annoying. "All depends on the quality of traffic" This could mean anything according to ebay

They're basically asking us to trust them in the same way Google asks publishers to trust them when they determine how much they'll pay out with Adsense. It's a trust most of us wouldn't place in a smaller company, but with giant corporations like Google and eBay we don't really have a choice.

It's not really going to CPC.. it's just a new way to rate commissions based on when the user was first visiting the site.

This doesn't seem good. I rather have the old commission structure.
