I would like to build my own myspace/facebook type website in my country and would like to know what's the easiest way to do it. I already asked my web hosting company's technical support about this but they only told me to take a look at the content management applications they provide to see which one will do the job. In other words they don't provide assistance related to web design etc.. just server issues etc.. I did check the content management applications they have available and they have so many but I'm still clueless about the one that will fulfill my needs. That's why I'm asking here which content management application will provide my surfers with a chat room, let them have their own page with profile, photos, classified ads, etc.., forums, chance to add comments, news and I know that I will think about many cool things to add to my website so the application should be expandable. Please mention any application that you know will do the job because there's a great chance that they will have it available since they have so many, if not they can install 3rd party applications. Thanks for reading me and have a nice day.
I was reading a couple weeks ago about Joomla and the 'Community Builder' additions. That might be a good starting place for your search.
Thanks for your answers, Joomla/Community Builder looks great. Now I would like more suggestions here is the list of all content management software available in my web hosting company so people here can make a comparison and tell me which one is best suited for my needs: Drupal, Geeklog, Joomla 1.5, Joomla, Mambo, PHP-Nuke, php WCMS, php WebSite, Siteframe, TYPO3, Xoops and Zikuta.
From your list, I would choose Joomla. If you plan on your site being bigger than joomla.org or aa.com.tr, then go with Drupal. Choose one that has the best resources and support. You spoke of "Joomla 1.5" and "Joomla". Please do not choose Joomla 1.0.
