    Hello

I would like to know if someone has experience with hosting affiliates?

Is it worth to give them a try or just a waste of time?

    Any help highly appreciated.

    Regards

Most affliate programs have an unrealistic payout policy. They give you 40% of the deal but you make 100$ to cash-out. personally if i can find so many leads i can get a reseller hosting and see bigger RECURRING profits. So its up to you and the company you deal with..

I am affiliate manager of webhosting company and i can say that, If you have web hosting targeted web site, It's definitely worth to try. The important thing is, finding the correct merchant. Check their reputation, if they offer "recurring commissions", bonuses, contest and coupons...

Check their reversal rate also. Most hosting companies are running their affiliate program In-house, it's not easy to see their reversal rates, so join programs in big affiliate networks....

In next week we make exciting changes on our affiliate program. I will make announcement here. I've been reading a lot of negative things about the hosting affiliate programs, this one will eliminate the all negative sides. Because i am a former affiliate, i know what an affiliate wants. So stay tuned.

lets say you get paid 200$ per dedicated server sale.. and your commision will be paid ONLY IF the buyer continues for 3 months. other than praying, what else can be done. people might switch hosting due to zillion mistakes the hosting company can be responsible for ( say uptime, sucking support, feature issues and like.. ). So the affliates suffer because of that?

This is why we will offer recurring commission after August 27th.

So you don't have to wait for 3 months to get paid. You will get paid monthly. If customer decide to cancel their hosting package on the 3rd month, You will keep the commissions for the first 2 months.

actually for many reason customers may return the product they purchase (say they don't like, late shipping, etc). So it's not only happening in hosting business. Reversals are the reality of online businesses and It doesn't matter it's hosting or any other product. The important question is, what is rate of reversals? and is it a real reversal? ;)

I used to be a hosting affiliate but after a while of sending them (mainly JustHost.com) a lot of sign-ups I decided it would be more lucrative to simply get a reseller account and a hosting site and use the promotional methods I used as an affiliate, for my own site.

It's a pain in the beginning, but it's definitely worth it down the road.

    Just my 2 cents.

    Thanks,
    Omar

The hosting company I run has a recently launched affiliate program and it's doing quite well. The key is to offer good incentives like special coupon codes and bonuses etc. for the affiliates.

Do you think everyone is capable to run a hosting company? it is not easy as you think. But yeah, just get a reseller hosting and act like a hosting company. Good luck.

I never said it was easy. If you read my post, I said:

"It's a pain in the beginning, but it's definitely worth it down the road."

Of course it's not easy but it's not impossible or anywhere near it.

I'm trying out host gator right now, so far I've sold one and it's pending at the moment (the 3 month term I believe). I think it's worth throwing in the mix of ads, if you show it every now and then, people will either take it or leave it. No reason to make it an ad that shows up every other ad though, that's just overkill on something few people will want.

I think this is kind of a given, but would you mind giving a reason when you go and make claims such as that? It's slightly annoying for you to give advice against what I currently know without a reason, I'm all ears if you care to elaborate.
