Yahoo Directory for Free??

Is it possible to get included in the Yahoo Directory for Free? I was checking my latest referrers today and noticed that my site is listed on "Yahoo Directory Additions for Monday, August 7, 2006"

I didn't think it was possible to get into this without paying $299/year.

Anyone ever hear of this?

 

I had a site listed in Yahoo Directory for free a few years back, so the answer is yes they do list some sites for free. I guess Yahoo has a few editors adding a few quality sites to the directory for free. Anyway, congrats on your listing.

 

It is possible, sites do get lisited. I got myself lisited in say within 1-2months of the request.

But it needs to be quality, and shouldn't be overly commercial.

 

All said.. The site needs to be a quality site and it gets easily accecpted.

 

I have both my sites and both my blogs listed for free in yahoo, was quite pleased when i realised and glad of it of course.

i'm listed on the additions for august 7th but when you actually go into the directory listing, my site isn't there yet. Do you know why? When i view other people who also were listed for aug 7th, in their directory, they are listed with a "new" symbol next to them.

Does it take some time to get listed after the first part?

 

It can take between 2-4 days before your listing shows up in the category.

Check the English Regional versions, you should start showing up in those also. ie. Yahoo Australia & NZ, UK & Ireland, Asia, Canada, etc.

 

did you see any significant results after getting listed in the directory? did your rankings increase, traffic increase? What are the true benefits of being listed in the Yahoo Directory?

 

Yahoo directory has no impact on website ranking. I know this from experience and my own personal rankings compared to competitor sites thatI know are listed in the Yahoo directory. Personally I think it's a waste of money!!

 

It can be, unless you get yourself listed with the right title in the best category.
