I ran across a great SEO press release yesterday about new SEO tool site SEOIQTest.com. The site allows users to test how much SEO they really know through a quick 20-question test.

It's a pretty cool free SEO IQ test designed to measure your overall Search Engine Optimization (SEO) knowledge. It also reveals many of the SEO strategies that are key to achieving Top Ranking success.

Take the test and post your scores in the thread. I was suprised by the detailed answers that I got after taking it myself. Let me know what you guys think.

The site is associated with Planet Ocean Communications, the Hawaii-based company that runs www.searchenginenews.com and www.seoINsites.com along with some other top-quality pro SEO sites. Have you heard of them?

You have to remove your bold tags to make the link work.

The problem with really any SEO test is that the optimization "rules" change so often that someone who was an expert 2 years ago and used the same techniques that worked back then would now probably fail! lol

Thanks for making my point. If you are still using techniques from two years ago you CLEARLY are not having much success online organically in the current landscape. That's a great reason to take the test online.

I'd love to hear your score Asmodeus, don't be shy! :)

    See, its too subjective though.

Take the very first question, for example. The "obvious" answer is "DMOZ.org and dir.Yahoo.com", but I picked "Its a waste..." because I honestly believe it is. I have dozens of sites on the top 10 of Google (including #1 positions for competitive terms) that have absolutely ZERO directory backlinks.

That doesn't mean that directory links don't work for SOME people, but just that it's not needed at all, so to say that my answer was automatically "wrong" is not really a fair way of testing. According to YOU, its wrong, but according to me it's not. It doesn't make either of us right or wrong, but just 2 people with different tactics to get the same results, which is good SERP positions.

I got a 112 of 160. Not bad I guess. Some of the questions I don't exactly agree with the answer and then there was 1 where I just didn't read the second answer very closely and just chose a single answer instead of a and b.
