I have 4 sites, all of which are under a month old. With three of those sites, I was able to get to the first page of Google for my keywords and one site made it to the second page in under a week each. Now, when I checked this morning, all of my site aren't on the first 20 pages of Google but they still are doing well on Yahoo and indexed in Google. What exactly happened? I didn't do anything bad to try and get better rankings, so what could it be? Thanks for any feedback!
This is called a freshness boost, because your sites/pages were new to google, it gaves them an artificial boost in rankings, but after a while, it goes away and if you didn't get enough backlinks to make up for it, your pages quickly go down the rankings.
Well Google is always "tweaking" their ranking algorithm so that could have something to do with it. Have you done any "black hat" or scam things that could have gotten you penalized? Do you employ a web promoter that could have done these things?
Nope, I've never done any blackhat to any of my sites. With what the other person said, I've actually been keeping up with backlinks. I've gotten almost 1000 in about two weeks when the first results only have 200. Not to mention, I checked out all their backlinks and posts the same place they did which were mostly blogs.
If those 4 sites in question are the ones you have in your DP signature, you definitely need to spend some time doing some quality link building. Some simple social bookmarking would also help. I agree that any initial rankings were artificial at best and a result of the "freshness" of the site. I also see you have those sites HEAVILY interlinked. That's not smart, especially if they are on the same C-Class IP address. I'd tone that down and work to do the following: - submit valid sitemaps for each in GW Tools - add more quality UNIQUE content to each site - get some quality backlinks into each site (I see a ton of backlinks to the above blogs, all from PR 0 sites and blogrolls) - bookmark the sites, don't be afraid to use a aggregate tool like http://www.socialposter.com/ to get traction on these sites - tone-down the signature links (honestly, these only bring you to the attention of Google and provide a very limited SEO impact organically) Google likes quality sites that actually have some content behind them. I don't consider a 5-page site with thin content "quality" that Google will rank competitively. Do you?
Changes in ranking order is very natural, while Google tends to show 'google-dance' so often. There are lots of competition for SERP result, may be ur competitors performed better than you in last few days. You should add contents frequently, get backlinks continuously, use proper SEO for u site. Only then you can expect to rank for a long time.
this is the game of Google try to do more work on your site i think you competitor also do some better for you!!! need to collect some quality back links i hope you back again!!!
Me too attain the same stage for my site. What happens with google? i think i need to get more back links to sustain on top position with my competitors.
