Everyone is cracking down on affiliates, all major search engines, major networks and CPA networks. You should drop by the gov websites sometime and see what regulations they have coming. For example any affiliate site really needs to say "advertisement" at the top of a site, and yes I mean at the very top.

Reviews will soon be history, any review will have to be validated and the methods used to conduct the review will need to be on the site itself.

All testimonials need to be real and documented and filed and be able to be proved.

Anyhow, lots of stuff, I've been hit pretty hard in search engines myself. I've since become anti search. You will too if you lose a 20k plus monthly income overnight because you're at the mercy of paid search... not worth it.

Good. Fake blogs and testimonials piss me off and hurt the credibility of the industry.

Gee thats bad news. This would be terrible for affiliates... Isn't it ?

This would impact overall sales -Noone will open a page that reads advertisement. I know myself coz I skip such sites instantly !

I don't see how they can do this on a global scale as I am not governed by american law. I am governed by australian law and surely this would have to be a global collaberation with all governments to enforce this sort of law. I mean could the american government come after an affiliate in the UK or Australia? I really don't see how this could be enforcable across the board.

I would like to add however that I am all for getting rid of the fake blog sites etc. I just can't see anything like this becoming enforceable worldwide? What do you think?

    Thanks

    Pete

Pete, there is a solution for every thing if not review then recommendation will work, Basically we have to dominate keywords and educate reader with product offering.

Affiliates are the blood of internet marketing, nothing will stop us no matter how bad anybody tries. Still its very important to do a ethical business practice to stay in a business for longer period of time.

@chum I wasnt worried all of my sites are not exaggerated or the products I am selling I have checked. I was just wondering how they think they can go about enforcing this on a global scale. It seems as if it would be a huge job that just wouldn't work.

    Thanks

Wouldn't the government lose a lot of money that way, driving away valuable tax dollars? I could see the major earners leaving the country to market elsewhere if that were the case or finding loopholes which there will always be.

If they crack down on affiliate marketing their cracking down on an industry that despite the recession is expected to grow to $250 Billion this year.

Going to join Plimus. Thought of doing it a few months back but I have been concentrated on clickbank only. I am seeing some nice stats that Pete claims to get which won't make me do anything else but join PLIMUS. :)

Keep it up guys. Testing is what it's all about.

I still haven't figured out how you're supposed to find anything decent to promote on Plimus. Their version of a "marketplace" is hideous.

Agreed, there whole back-end seems a bit disorganised. Pete could you give us some pointers on choosing products to promote from Plimus?

    @Everyone

Regarding Plimus. It is all about finding and writing about a product that you are confident about. I tested about 10 products before I found 2 that are working good for me. All I can tell you is to have a look through their marketplace and choose a product that you think is in need for some people and then test away. I dunno maybe I was lucky but I am on the search for a new product through plimus at the moment.

    Thanks

    Pete
