I've created a tool that creates a links that fills submission forms on directories. Find it here The links work in FF. I've not managed to make them work in IE yet (they do work, but there's no way to get them to the bookmark folder) but IE buffs are welcome to try. The links work with most directory scripts, some lesser ones only partially but most work lika a charm.
Thanks it works but where it gives you the link you have to view the source of your site and drag and select the javascript code and then make a bookmark and put it in.
I actually used Firefox in regards to my above problem but looks like I accidentally discovered how you can do it in IE - glad I could help! Congratz on the script, it's really helpful and the most convenient I've used.
In FF you really should be able to drag the link to the bookmarks menu or the link toolbar, certainly works for me in FF 1.5.0.6.
Maybe I am just an idiot, but I tried it in IE and FF and when it says "here is your link" there is no link to be found. Any advice??
Have you given a name for the link in the first field of the form? That field sets your link text, I fixed it yesterday so that it sets a default text for the link name. I'll emphasize the fact that this field is required even more on the page, but I hope that this solves your problem.
Yes I did, works just fine when you leave the link name blank... Edit: Holy crap this is even better than InFormEnter! Thanks!
You should definitely keep working on this tool Perrow and improve it's compatibility with more directories - it's such a good tool. And everyone with SEO related sites should link to it.
Perrow, I got it to work now by leaving the Link Name field blank (FF 1.0.4). I tested it on all my directories running various versions of phpLD and it works great.
I've found the problem, stupid programmers error. In fact it wasn't working for me either before, on the server that is. On my development computer it worked. It was actually a = that should have been a ==, and shouldn't really have worked at home either. I even thought I ran the same php version as the server, got to dig a little into this problem. Anyway, it works great now, I hope
I have added a "source box" to make it easier for IE users to use this tool. Now if it were only possible to rename the thread Possible a mod sees this and can remove the (FF) from the title.
