Hello all, Over the past few months, I have made about 25 different blogs. I know that it normally takes some time to get a new site indexed, however, I noticed that all of my blogs got indexed (not fully indexed of course) within a few hours after bookmarking them at some popular social bookmarking sites. I never had a domain take longer than a day to get indexed after those bookmarks were made. About a week ago, I bought a 4-year-old domain from TDNam. The domain had it's homepage indexed in Google (it was just a Godaddy parked page). I set up a blog on it - waited a couple of days - and started the bookmarks. Today, 5 days later, the same Godaddy parked page is the only thing that Google sees in regards to my site. As a matter of fact, when searching for mydomain.com in Google, I still see that parked Godaddy page at #1, and a bunch of social bookmarking sites with my URL following. Once again, keep in mind that I have a group of 25 blogs that got indexed almost instantly after those bookmarks so I know that this is not normal. If anything, I was under the impression that an aged domain should get indexed even faster and show more credibility for the big G. That's the reason I decided to buy an aged domain instead of registering a new one. Is there anything you can think of that might be causing this problem? I am spending a lot of time and money on that site, so if there is anything preventing the domain from getting indexed I would like to know now before I invest more on it. P.S. It might be worth noting that this old Godaddy parked page that was indexed as the homepage of my site disappeared for a day (a couple of days ago) and then reappeared.
it's already indexed, but can take up to several weeks before google updates it with the new content.
Thanks guys. I have already build a few quality backlinks for the site. Sure, I should build more - but that's not the problem here. How come 25 new sites on brand new domains got indexed within hours after the social bookmarks, yet a 4 year old domain still hasn't (6 days later)? Could it be that because there is a page already indexed (even though it's outdated) - Google didn't crawl through my site again when it saw those bookmarks/backlinks? That's the only thing that would make SOME sense, since all the new domains didn't have anything indexed... and maybe Google "had" to crawl them when it saw the backlinks...
basically the new content will show when google "cache" the site, and that can take even 2 weeks from the last time it was cached.
Thanks evil0x. That makes sense... since Google sees that it has already indexed a page from the site, it doesn't see the urgency to crawl it again, while in the case of new sites it has to crawl them. Is there anything I can do other than keep making backlinks? I am afraid that I might overdo it if I keep doing that.
All your 25 sites are new and that is why it get indexed properly from your social bookmark activity. They don't have any parked domains ads left on there. Google don't like parked domain ads site and it may take some time to get it indexed. Is it a blog? Have you install google xml sitemap? It might be helpful to get it done faster. Try to keep adding more contents at frequent rate, as it will help too.
Thanks Atniz! It is a blog and I am currently adding 2-3 posts a day. I can actually post more, I just don't know whether it's a good thing to do so. What do you think? Is there a limit to the posts that I should make per day?
I think getting some more backlinks from other sources will help a lot, Specially via forums, other blogs extra rather than social bookmarks.
