Over doing it??

I have been making a number of changes to a site that seems to make 'obvious' sense.

i.e. building internal links, ATL tags on pictures, 'normal' sentences for description, proper specific page title etc etc

This replaces what could have been described as 'spam' descriptions, no internal link structure, no ALT tags etc etc

The result is that the site is now sinking down the rankings faster than the Titianic!!

From pages that were pretty shabby to fully optimised pages with proper html I would have thought that this would have promoted the site rather than seen the site sink.

This seems to have happened on ALL search engines so I am thinking that I have over done something or removed the 'spam' description that obviously the search engines liked.

    What am I to do?

Without a look at your site, no people can answer your questions :)

I would advise you to relook at the Google Webmaster Guidelines. Read through their guidelines and follow them.

As long as your content shows up readable (not keywords stuffing), you will be fine. You may also want to post a link to your site so that other members can comment and help you out :)
