How much monthly do you make from your directory?

    Hello,

    Please share roughly how much you earn from your directory in a month, if not a secret, for curiousity? and what way of monetising you use?

    I curious what is the best way to monetize directory:

    Paid links or paid featured links only,

    What ad network to use, or affiliate links, or sell links?

    Does niche related directories better than directories for all links?

    Please share!
    Thanks!

    I make just enough to feed my goldfish.

    Seriously, don't insult others with these utterly asinine questions.

    I make about $3,600-3,900 monthly. Of that money, about $200-300 of it is from actual internet marketing :(

    Well if you don't find it insulting or rude to ask others to tell you their financial information - WHY DON'T YOU START BY DISCLOSING A DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF YOUR NET WORTH AND WHERE YOU DERIVE ALL YOUR INCOME.

    Then we would like a line by line of what exactly you do to make your living.

    ;)

    @Swedal

    Asking for information is not the same as demanding information. No point to get hurt ;)

    And i do not getting insulted when you ask me the same, just i have none income yet (thats probably why im asking (not demanding!) of some information and suggestions)

    @Xopacuo :)

    Me too still going to minus. Google Adsense doesn't really work yet, spending a lot more for advertising and link building, than getting income, but i only have directory for a few months.

    Wonder if anyone find usefull and profitable to earn from selling paid listings.

    Don't expect someone is going to tell you the truth about his earnings... Especially when it comes to directories...

    Ok. These questions are for those, who do not think that my questions are disrespectfull and rude, if someone thinks it is disrespectfull or rude, then for sure these questions are not for them.
    Is it so hard just to ignore this thread instead of bad-mouthing?

    I'm not sure if I agree your question is rude but it is certainly not going to be one that is welcomed. How often in the real world do you ask for help by asking folks how much money they make? It's a real put off. Getting fussy when folks tell you to get lost is not a way to get the information you seek either.

    To answer your questions...Do some searches of the old threads. There's tons of information on monetizing directories.

    I found a thread that really talked about earning
    http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=501051&highlight=earn

    however things changing fast. How much you earn is really depending how you work on your directory. There are always winners and losers in every business.

    i don't know about others but i made lots of money in 2006 and 2007.
    even sold couple of directory over 1.5k and 1.4k
    But since 2008 i stop making any new directory and stop promoting.
    because i lost interest in it. Though i still have few directory but never promote or look after it.

    I know that directory owners do make money, some are making enough to make it their income for living.
    Not sure, anyone would want to share any exact numbers.
    As for the other revenue channels, I've been approached by ad networks several times but never thought it's a good idea to work with them. I am making money only on paid submissions.
    If someone thinks there are other great revenue-generators for directories, I'd be interested to hear you. That's actually an interesting subject raised which we can discuss here.
    P.S.: FBZ and Xin - sell me your directories. :) You guys are smart! :)

    Some folks around here think they're God. That's one reason I seldom visit this forum. I agree with your statement "Is it so hard just to ignore this thread instead of bad-mouthing?". Good luck there however. ;)
