I agree.. Odesk have smart and reliable providers.. As for the buyers, almost all pays well.. Payment is guaranteed here so there's no way you need to worry about not getting paid..
I recommend Elance. It costs a little money to use and they take a cut, but the service is great and the pay seems to be significantly higher than with many other freelance services like Odesk. I hear that getafreelancer is good, but haven't tried it yet.
So far my best experience has been with oDesk... The management tools are really great. 6 Times an hour it takes a screen shot of the workers screen. This is at random times. It also logs keyboard and mouse activity. You only have to pay for hours worked. So if there activity is below a certain point you can choose not to pay. The oDesk Guarantee is an hour worked is an hour paid... I have had the standard outsourcing issues. That can be expected .... But for the most part I have been able to bounce out poor workers and bad providers. I have this one girl doing links for me.... she did 36 hours straight one weekend... 3.33$ hour... I felt like a slave driver even though I did not ask her to do that.
As well, I like getafreelancer they are very reputable which is very important to our industry these days.

Stay away from getafreelancer.com : they are scams! they can suspend your account as soon as there is money on it, you have no way to contact theim, you can send as many emails you want, they will never answer.
