There's some lists here at DP with sites you should build backlinks from that are "do follow." This should be one of your first priorities to drive traffic to your new page. Good luck with it
You have to get credible backlinks to your site; otherwise, you will never rank high enough to ever receive enough valuable traffic. Links, Links, Links
I too am just starting out. I stopped working on my page to devote my time to research stuff like SEO and better learn to create/ organize my website. I agree with all the posters above and have found the best way for me to learn what works and what doesn't is to browse the forums. Whenever you are reading something and have a question either reply to the thread with your question or simply perform a search on this board and you should have your question answered in minutes. bingoboots, I think you will need to consider installing a WordPress blog in your sub-directory to make it easier for you to add new content for your website. This will encourage the search engine bots to index your website more frequently.
