How much can you make with an average article web site if you ahve Google Adsense ads on it? Lets say that the site had Alexa rank in the 100 000s?
Among other things it depends on 1) Amount of visitors 2) Topic of the site My site consists of biographical articles and has an Alexa rank of 448,000. It makes in the region of $10 a day.
Alexa rank does not mean a thing. Alexa rank can fall while traffic increases substantially. Its very odd.
My bunch of articles (see sig) gets a really good CTR (more than 1%), but I've got virtually no traffic Hopefully this will increase naturally... my eCPM is $3+. Cryo.
you're right, same experience here, and moreover its easy to increase alexa by fake hits. Better try sitemeter.
Depends on the content. We have a mid to high traffic Canadian news site and it varies by the day according to the new content. Some days we get a pathetic average of about 10cents per click other days it can be well over a dollar each. As of late though it seems no matter the subject matter adsense is paying less and less. Maybe time to look at Yahoo?
What do you exactly mean by topic on the site ? Lets say the site has over 100 different categories for articles mainly research site for college students
The specific content of the topic of the individual article. Is it biology, economics, human interest etc. Topics around economics (loans, debt, credit etc) seem to pay the best for us on our news sites. So you can have one article on human interest - say philosophy and it will pay an average of 8 cents, and another on the history of consumer debt and those targeted ads might pay $1.50 each.
I'm creating an article site at the moment. I'm setting my Adsense goal at $1 per day by the end of the first month. This is starting with zero articles. I feel the only holding me back from earnings is volume of articles in the repository. Needless to say, I'm optimistic.
If that's the case then you have 100 different topics and, theoretically, 100 different categories of adsense ads.
On an articles site of mine, I'll average 18-20$ eCPM. But, getting visitors is the trick. I do not get that many visitors therefore I don't make much money. Although, I know if I could get the visitors, I would be doing amazing....
I run ambravallo.com article directory and first of all it never gets indexed over 5000 pages and it has over 40000 including user pages and other stuff and I have had it for nearly a year and it makes maybe a dollar a day from adsense. I have tried everything including pinging, backlinking blog commenting you name it I have tried it Social bookmarking and still nothing and the articles are getting no love from Google never ranking high even the pages with good anchor text backlinks. I am fairly sure it is not sandboxed but any ideas would be greatly appreciated
