What is Twitter??

Hi!

I want to know that What is Twitter? and Why we use Twitter? What is Differnce btw Facebook and Twitter?

 

Twitter is known as 'mini blogging' since you can only send 140 characters of text per 'tweet'.

Twitter is used a lot these days for marketing and the likes since it's simple for the end user to find and read. One of our customers uses it to inform his customers of any maintenance he might be doing to his services and the likes.

Personally I think facebook is getting pretty bulky with so many attachments, applications and just a busy interface.

if you have some kind of service or business or just want to see what other celebs are up to; twitter is for you!

facebook or myspace are more for friends while twitter is more global and less of a friends community

 

Twitter is a basic micro blogging network which is used to update people with the minimal info about "what they are doing".
Twitter became a marketing den due to its ability to make links clickable.
Twitter is used by many celebrities worldwide to stay connected with their fan following, twitter is also used by the President of The United states of America i.e President Barack Obama. (he is a verified account holder - Don't kill me for this info, i have no proof apart twitter awarding him verified status) His account is probably used by his white office officials as most of the tweets there are related to social engineering.
When someone follows you on twitter then that person gets updates of all your twits (updates).

Facebook is a more privacy centered social network portal which caters many fun applications and also many different platforms like wall to wall posting, events, notes, fan pages etc , facebook has now inculcated a search engine of its own. Marketing via facebook is much more difficult compared to marketing via twitter. Twitter as someone here called is "instant gratification" tool

 

I personally like FB better than twitter - I can pretty much socialize more it seems and sneak in free advertisements from time to time.

 

I think Twitter is excellent for reaching out and meeting new people in your niche. You can also learn what your competition is up to

Twitter is very good platform for micro bloggers. You can get good following from your friends for good updations. It will take a little time to get benefited from twitter. If you are having a service or blog you can easily promote via twitter. It is yet another form [say micro] of social networking. The thing is most of the tweets are spams now a days. So you must work hard to get good impressions.

 

Tweeter doesn't net high connection. there's no image. just a box for typing 140 words.

@Street4life Your question has already been answered to some degree by some of the previous posts.

On the other hand, I agree that "what are you doing now?" is a question that invites a lot of trivial and ego-centric posts.

You might prefer a new free rival to Twitter, which asks a much better question and as a result gets a much higher quality of responses.

The question is "What do you know?" and the site is tipdrop.com .

Twitter is much easier then facebook to effectively market online. Facebook is focused more on friendship and disrupting that with affiliate and marketing strategies is not a good thing. On the other hand their are so many twitterers that marketing is just a part of what is happening.

I prefer twitter to market my products and content.
