Paypal is well known for charging high fees but since they are a strong monopoly no 1 can question them and siltently use them

I agree that communication is key. Lately I would say that over-communication wouldn't hurt your business relationships either. Better to be clear and up-front in all situations. Especially concerning money.

As a PayPal premium user it sounds like these changes benefit me since I can now make personal transfers fee-free

Hi bro, there will be many reasons why you had received lesser amount. But I doubt whether it goes as lower as .1 for 1$. Try sending as personal payments and gifts. Try to use transaction in between paypal balance.

Well the answer when sending small amounts is to send it as a gift. That means that the fees are reduced to almost nothing.

That was plutoegg's tip of the day!

Paypal has been a real thorn these days and we've actually been asking customers go use our credit card processor instead of paypal just because of the huge amount of fee's and holds they put on a users funds.

At least in Canada they put a 10% hold on your money for 60 days for 'fraud protection purposes'.

    Thanks

I am wondering if that has anything to do with your specific account or the types of products you are selling? A friend of mine in Canada has had a PayPal Account for over seven years, receives approximately $4,000 a month in payments and has never had any more than standard PayPal Fees deducted. Not once has there been any "fraud protection purpose" charges or holds.

This is because PayPal has per transaction fees that need to be deducted from the amount sent. If the amount being sent doesn't even cover the transaction fees, then you won't receive anything in your account.

Take for example the 2.9% + $0.30 per transaction fee. Is someone sends you $0.35, you'd receive $0.04. If someone sends you $0.29, you'd receive nothing.

This is standard practice for any company that charges per transaction fees, not only PayPal.
