I have installed a fresh copy of Windows XP Professional Edition Service Pack 2.0. Once I hide a particular folder, it is now impossible to un-hide it. I went to Tools > Folder Options > View > Show Hidden Files and Folders and applied the settings. But, system is not ready to make this change. When, again, I checked the settings, it was Do not Show Hidden Files and Folders activated.

I am unable to apply the setting as system is not making the subsequent changes. I don't know DOS commands to see the folder and un-hide it.

Suggest me, what changes I shall make to see the hidden folder.

    Thanks !

Are you sure no virus infections?

For unhide files with command prompt, try using this:

    %> attrib -h -s /d /s

My system is running with daily updated anti-virus protection.

What should be the correct syntax on command prompt?
I even forgot the name of the folder. How shall I see the list of hidden folders?

By using that command, it will unhide all files and folders at your directory. I hope you still remember where the directory of your forgotten folder is.
