So I own a Sh*t pile of domains and sites. Most of them are .com and .net A few are .us and I have even toyed with .info. I have a little problem now and I wanted to pick your brains here. I want to build a new site but EVERY variation of the domain is taken... Funny thing is of the 90% that are taken all are BS sites parked on sedo or someother crap. They are not showing up when you type in (thedomainiwant.com) in google search. The domains that do show up using the key words in the search are specific to the search. That's great news for me BUT, again all I can get is the (domainiwant.us or domainiwant.info ) my experience with these extension is they don't even show up in Google even when I search using the key words in the domain. Example: I own a site that's several years old www.militarywallpaper.us when I do a search for it in google using the key words (military Wallpaper) its not even listed on the front page. ALL of my .com and .net sites are. So I guess what I am asking is should I find a .com with partial key words or should I buy the .info and .us? I am editing this post I also forgot to mention another site same thing. http://www.webbookmarks.info/ If I do a search for (web bookmarks) nothing. The site even has a PR of 2.... Im lost on this one. Also what about Hyphens in the name? Thanks for your help.
I am not concerned with the price of the domain I am more interested in the issues listed in my post.
As far as I know the more important is the name of your domain than the extension. If your main keywords are included in your domain name, you shouldn't have much problems with it (even if you have dashes). I have seen some .info sites with excellent rankings. For .us I am not sure, but it shouldn't matter...
I understand what your saying but I have given two examples where that's not the case. Both sites above are old and have a PR. If I do a search using key words from the domain name they don't show up in Google. Yahoo picks them up but not Google, at least not on the first few pages. I have over a hundred .com and .net addys that show up just fine. none of my .info or .us are on the main page or even close. I'm sure it has to do with the .us and .info extension.
.info ranks as well as com, org, net. I know that for sure from my own experience. I love cheap infos. You can buy them for pennies.
