1&1 will send a collection agency after you and charge you 20$ more for it going to collection. however other then that they are a good company.
Their dedicated hosting is good. The servers stay up, the network works almost all of the time, and typically I can get someone on the phone within 5 minutes. Until a few days ago they were doing dual-core dedicated servers with 2GB of RAM and 2x250GB HD for $60/month. I grabbed a bunch of those - good thing I did, because now they're "sold out".
you cant make me touch 1&1 their very unethical. and just do a search for 1&1 suck or 1&1 reviews on the net and you'll see what i mean.
Ive used 1&1 , they have been good and bad. Good support team Okay servers Bad reputation and shut me down for sending mails to my OPT-IN mailing list of 70k in 1 day
I bought web hosting off 1&1 in February this year via one of their offers which was for 6months free... I unfortunately didnt know about their bad reputations until after I registered with them which I now really regret. Anyways, a week or so after I registered my domain "my-pokerhelper" I was issued with a bill for £99 or roughly $180.... I was livid and emailed them to ask what the hell was going on as I was under the impression I had 6months free. There reply was that I was only getting 3 of those months, charged at 50% off the usual monthly charge!! I emailed them back and told them that this was definately not what I had signed up for and that I wud not be paying the fee and I cancelled the direct debit and then told them that I wanted my account cancelled with immediate effect... I didn't get a reply from them after that. All I recieved was "threat letters" from them stating that if I did not pay the money I would be sent to a debt collections agency. I still refused to pay the money so a month or so later they sent me a letter again stating that I had been refaired to the debt collection agency and that anymore dealing I had with them had to be via the debt collection agency and not them. I then started to recieve letters from the debt collection agency threatening to come to my house etc and that if I did not pay the money I would be going to court. I obviously didnt want it to come to that because I was afraid that I may be blacklisted and that It would affect my credit rating if I was to get a mortgage in the future so I reluctantly then payed the money which had now risen to £127 with some other fees on top of the origional £99. I didnt get a letter to thank me for payment or even to confirm it had been payed, instead what I got from them 2 weeks later was another letter to tell me they were taking another £133 for another 6months hosting. Now I noticed somthing in the previous emails they have sent me which I have saved that everytime I got an email they refaired to my account as "poker hepler" instead of "poker helper", could I use that in anyway to fight my case??? Also I have tried to cancel my account but can't find anywhere on the admin section to do so!?!?!?! How can they treat there customers so badly??? I havnt even used the domain once and yet have been charged over £230...how is that possible... Is there anything I can do or will I be forced to pay again? thanks in advance if you can help me out Jessicka
