I have been wondering about affiliate programs that are on independent networks and are not listed on regular networks like CJ, Linkshare or Clickbank. Before I start to test and spend more time researching on these, has anyone had good experiences with them and made money? I see they pay more and have less restrictions.
It depends. Sometimes they are better than the big ones and sometimes they're just crooks... You should really do your homework before you work with an independent network.
It can be risky running those - at least with networks you have a good chance at getting paid - direct to merchant can be a guessing game at times
I would think twice before getting involved with an independent network. I have heard stories where one day they can no longer get in touch with anyone and are out a whole chunk of money. I am sure there are some legit ones but the best is to search different forum to get the most current information.
Hi, I am looking for some advice on how best to run and promote an Affiliate programme, both through a network and independently. What I don’t want to do is flout the rules of the site by mentioning it just yet. My challenge is because I have just joined a company with the strategic responsibility for this and a few other routes to market. We already have our programme listed in Webgains, Silvertap, Pepperjam etc, but I have a team of marketer and programmers building a comprehensive range of services to support our Affiliates. So my question is what are the main services Affiliates really value and secondly, am I allowed to put the details of our programme on here? Cheers, Martin
Hi, IMO,I think it should be okay you create a topic with the program you are having. I have just surfed around this forum and found a topic used banner for the purpose. Here is an affiliate programs forum site. The rule restricted the replying to the original topic posting with their affiliate link which is a big "no".Correct me if I am wrong. I hope this could help enlightening you. Have a great day
Has anyone heard about affiliatejump - I heard they is no restrictions for their acceptance but I don't like their $200 upfront cost.
There are good legitimate independent affiliate programs. I myself am running one If you're interested. But the thing is that there are so many scams out there, that you don't know whom to trust. Sometimes you just have to use your instinct and go with what feels right.
Just do your homework (lots and lots of research) and you should be able to determine the legitimacy of most the programs. Good Luck!
I only go direct to merchants now. I don't actually have my own websites anymore, nowdays I'll just adwords a whitelabel website provided by the merchant. I'll run the affiliate program until sales start to fall, then I'll move onto the next. The thing about this game is watching your stats, knowing what's hot and being able to handle adwords like a keyword chopping champion. Anything on the big affiliate networks is saturated and thus google wants stupid money for keywords.
My advice s to stick with what you know works. Some of these independants cant be trusted. At least with Amazon, Ebay Clickbank etc you know that they have the policies and structures in place so that you will be paid. Afterall this is what it's all about. Taking a risk may bring higher returns but you'd want to make sure that you get paid for your trouble. Good luck whatever your decision
That's what I thougt, the payout for independent is higher however the risk is a bit higher too.. that's why I was asking here if someone had luck with them and is in good reputation to pay on time.
I have had pretty good luck promoting small companies with their own affiliate programs setup. Specifically this works great with referring software I actually use, like paid WP plugins, etc. that would work on say clickbank, but don't use them.
I wouldn't say one-on-one, because the affiliate program they have setup are still automated. However, there is no 3rd party program skimming some off the top, which generally means bigger commissions. Also, these types of companies often pay via PayPal, which I like.
I only go with networks like CJ rather than independent/in-house one. Because if suddenly the merchant gone you won't lose the commission you've earned.
