How do you figure out how much traffic your website is bringing in. I was also wondering if anyone knew how I could get a forum on my website? I use office live for it and they do not have anything for forums set up yet as far as I know.

I would recommend that you use Google Analytics, its the best (free) tool out there to track your traffic.

As for the forum, there are different softwares you can use, e.g. Free: PhpBB, myBB, SMF or Paid: vB or IPB. They're all easy to set up, but hard to run ;)

That would depend on your sites age, targeted audience,,, and several other factors. Lets say that your a news site like CNN or yahoo news, then maybe a few million people a day would be good.

But if you have a blog that is mostly for family members, then maybe a few hits a day.

yes analytics in great. How much traffic? depends on how you want to make-

Wotk out how much you want and work though how much that means a day, then work out how much traffic would be needed to do that...it will get you thinking...

For traffic you can use google analytic or stat counter.
If you want to setup forum you can use vBulletin script but i does cost you.

Before starting a forum think first how you'll get genuine members.

I can't keep up with my traffic. I just try to stay on page 1-2 of Google with my key words. That's the best anyone can do.

Exactly, have a well thought out plan for how you're planning to drive members to sign up for your forum before you even start. Most forums fail for lack of pre-planning.

    Good luck

Google Analytics is the simplest and easiest way to track your traffic.

Never start a forum until you have a lot of visitors daily. Nothing looks worse than an empty forum on a website or blog.
