    I would have to say the only way for it to work for direct search engine marketing is if you get your twitter followers to engage in any kind of link bait

    It's an excellent tool but it requires so much work it's off putting. I've tried it for my own site and spent an hour following people using the # technique for keywords. You get some interest but it's tough to fully utilise Twitter in truth as people are only interested in quick messages from friends.
