Has anyone had success with advertising on Facebook? How does it compare to Google Adwords in service and price?

Tried it but my results was not so good. Maybe my niche was not good for FB (web design). The good think for FB advertising is fine tuning the targeting visitors.

What do you mean by fine tuning the targets? Does that mean use facebook to figure out who likes your content and what your target audience should be?

I have used FB advertising but the conversion was very poor. The CPC is most probably lower than adwords and ysm but if the conversion is low lower CPC is not good either.

IMO Facebook CPC are very high. But the traffic potential is enormous.
On my first attempt I blew through my budget in about 10 minutes.
    Watch out!

    Nope. Sux, eh?

At least I learned my lesson. Now I always use a low campaign budget to test!

Meh Facebook users are unwilling to click on or even see ads. And yet they expect faster service...

I tried the tool and it said the maximum bid per click has to be greater than $0.80. That's very expensive

Through Facebook you can introduce the service and mainly new movie release, but there is no guarantee or any one say that surely we get traffic and that will convert in business.

I signed up last week with a $25 credit. Once my free funds are depleted I will stop my campaign because I don't think the traffic is converting well...

    wow, this makes me laugh.

Okay, first point to make. Mostly any social networking sites, are Teen Based. Because of the fact that they are time sinks, and many working adults dont have time to sit and play on a social networking site for hours and hours a day.

With a site that is TEEN based. Even though FaceBook has plenty of adults, and has become more in the 50/50 range or Teens vs Adults, the fact is its a Time Sink. People dont go there to see an offer about Web Services. People go there to connect with friends which is why having ads for like Yearbook.com on facebook would be the best strategic move. Because think about it, Connecting with friends. Yearbook.com its a match. Also having ads that are teen based, will have a better response. If you are looking advertise anything web related on a social networking arena, check out linkedin.com

Linkedin is made up of working professionals who use the site to keep in touch and make more business connections. With that being said, now if you were to put an ad up about a web service on their site, the reaction would be a lot better.

Unfortunately, this blind shot, just throw money where it looks good to throw it, is the way a lot of the american public look at things. You need to do research before you spend money because you are going to end up just wasting it. The idea of marketing is to research before spending, to reduce the gamble factor when the campaign goes live. There is always a gamble that your campaign is going to fail. The idea is to get it as solid as possible.
