    Hello everyone
i've one confusion in my Mind.
If my site are pointing to same name server like ns1.mydomain.com and ns2.mydomain.com
and all my domains ( that have different IP's allocated to them) that are pointing to that name server ( ns1.mydomain.com and ns2.mydomain.com ) and if i do link exchange between all that domains ( almost 30 domains)
so, my question is having same name servers will hurt my rankings?? or not

    Thanx in advance

According to Google, it shouldn't hurt your rankings but the link exchange between your websites will not be valued as much.

Hmm.. not so sure this is correct. Google might not give so much weight to links between sites on the same server (i.e. resolving to the same IP address). But in this case the only common factor is the nameserver (which doesn't mean too much really), whereas to Google all the domains are resolving to different IPs.

If the sites have unique IPs then I think you should be ok to go. Have a try at three-way linking to avoid reciprocal links (which carry less weight) and if possible try to embed the links into text on those sites.

So sites using the same DNS are going to get penalised even though the sites could resolve to very different servers/locations?

So what happens if you are using third party DNS? Does this mean that any sites that link to each other and happen to find themselves on the same DNS are going to get penalised? Or in a hosted environment sites that might be on different servers but the same DNS is used for lookup?

I learn something new every day

Can anyone else confirm that regardless of IP, domains using the same DNS will be penalised?
