Hi there, I have a forum myself and have recently just installed a program for it called TapaTalk, it is a free plugin sort of thing for forums which lets the users of the forum access the forum with a native application for the iPhone or iPod Touch. It is free to install and register at www.tapatalk.com The users then just buy the app ($2.99) and then can browse DP like normal from there device. It is really cool and I think would be a great addition. Just a quick suggestion that I thought I would try to get the idea floating around
I would be much more excited for that if the app didn't cost $3. Why would I pay $3 when I already pay $30 for internet on my iPhone, just to get a on a site that I can get on free? I understand the point of this, and it's probably pretty cool, but how stupid is it that you have to pay for the app to go back again through Safari to the same website to make it mobile? Websites should either a) have it mobile capable, or b) don't.. Not charge someone for it. But good suggestion I guess, maybe.
It doesnt go through safari, it is a completely seperate app which lists a bunch of different forums you can access on your iphone/ipod touch and you browse them through that app. It is especially designed to work with teh iPhone/iPod Touch and lets you do everything from browsing forums, making topics, viewing thread, making replies, all from your device. The only downside is that they charge for the app, but once its bought, you get a wide range of apps. Not saying everyone with an iPhone needs to buy it, just thought I would suggest it and see if I can get it implemented for those like me who may have that app and promote DP for iPhone users. Below are some screenshots form the application to give you a feel of what it is like
Looks like a nice idea, if it was integrated then I'd certainly install this on my iphone. However I'm sure that any greater strain on the processing power of the servers that this forum runs on should be avoided, and I'm guessing that only a small percentage of DP users have an iphone/touch, and an even smaller percentage would be willing pay the $2.99 to have the app.
There's actually an iPhone/iPod mode for this forum already, but I haven't had the time to finish it so it's not completely done yet.
Yeah, only reason I did suggest this, not only because I like it, but because there used to be a iPod/iPhone skin for the forum, but didnt see it anymore.
I was just looking at this site on my iPhone and was greeted by the iPhone version, but there are some things/suggestions that I thought I'd post. For some reason, the iPhone version shows us who gave the infraction, it wasn't there when I checked the normal mode. There should be a link to the usercp somewhere up the top to make things much easier. If I didnt know that it was usercp.php, I wouldn't have found it A problem I found with my own website too, URLs will increase the width of the boxes they are in because they are large. The same goes for posted images, they should be resized. When I was checking whether the infractions were the same, I changed the mode back to normal mode, now I can't get back Just my first impressions, but it looks really cool
