My domain is still not expired though it had to be???

    Hi,

I registered a domain an year ago. It should have been expired by now.

The expiry date is shown as 2009-08-09 in my accounts column from the name.com site. But the domain is still alive and still exists under my account.

I checked the site in who.is site and it shows that the expiry date is 09-Aug-2010. Sounds weird? I registered for only one year and I am damn sure about it. But the domain is still alive and also under myself. It sounds weird and also sounds good to me.

But, is there any hidden cost like something that I would have to pay to get back my domain from Name.com or something?

PS: I registered the domain in name.com which is very obvious.

Please guide me. I have many domains that are going to expire soon. Do I need to update it or I shall leave just like this?

Sounds like you may have accidentally registered it for 2 years - if not then check you registrar settings, it will almost certainly be set to re-register automatically. If you have not paid for this then you may again want to send a support email to your registrar or ISP to confirm the status. As far a your many domains are concerned, i would check your automatic domain renewal settings with your registrar or ISP.

It sounds like the domain was set to auto-renew, check your paypal or credit card for a charge.

If not renewed you still can - when domains expire you have 2-4 weeks (sorry cant remember) where you can renew it at regular rates and get it back. After that you still have another month to renew it but its around $80.

    Thanks both of you.

I bought the name via name.com and used paypal to buy the domain. Yes, I added my cousin's credit card to my paypal account. So, would it have cost my cousin's credit card?

Why not you renew it from your name.com account. I think, its only solution.
