If the twitter feed links to something you're interested about, you might strike up a conversation about that very subject. Question is, how can RSS feeds not strike up a conversation?

I see people with 90% RSS feeds all the time on my twitter. Sometimes I talk to these people if I find something interesting about their blog post or whatever.

Someone posting their RSS feed does not harm you. It does not waste your time (because trust me, i'm sure your conversations aren't that enlightening either, I'd bet some good blogs would be better use of your time). It doesn't cause you to unlearn anything. It doesn't lead you to less conversations. It doesn't lead you to less friends.

I don't see any motivation to remove people because they attached their RSS feed. I'm pretty sure I'd rather see an RSS feed than you or someone going "hey good morning all" or "That was a 9 hour workday, what a crazy day" or "hey guys check out this funny video: http://tinyurl" or "disc golf anyone?" or "someone needs to tell Leo that we don't wake up at 5:30 around here"

(stuff that you are posting on twitter, in case you didn't recognize).

And btw, speaking of your twitter account, to me it looks like you DOOOO have an RSS feed attached .... Hypocrisy dare I say?

Well, manual follow seems to be the better alternative, the issue is how about the time.

It seems you're trying to get personal with this topic?
I never said I didn't have an RSS feed as a twitter ID (Why would I put it in my signature if I was trying to hide it..lol)
I said I don't follow many who are constantly posting via the feed and hence the spam.

I'm not judging you for following feeds, I can sort of see the point from your post above. I just don't follow many and I use twitter as a social tool, not one to try and sell you a product like many of the feeds are setup.
My Twitter stream is constantly moving, the more spammy RSS feeds that I have filling it up, the more likely I'll miss something really important, like news in my niche of interest.
I suggest you don't focus so much on the feeds, and focus on those who are putting quality content out, which if you do check my post. The reason I post what I post is to socialize.
If you really wanted to study me, you'll see the conversations that generally go along with the "boring post" as you call it.

The only updates you quoted that I've actually said was "disc golf anyone" and that was today
I do talk about a "Leo" but he's my 4 month old baby.
Something you don't know, most of those post (non-tech news) go out to all my social networks via ping.fm.
To my Facebook, MySpace, Twitter and a dozen more. I carry on conversations on those sites with friends and family, I also get responses on Twitter from them.

I think you may be missing the point of Twitter.
For everyone else, here is Twitter in plain English.

You were saying you unfollow anyone who uses RSS feeds.

Unfollowing people who only use RSS feeds, IS acceptable and normal. But not when it is only half of their tweets.

I guess it would not really be a big surprise if Twitter could be the new home of spamming. Well, as members of DigitalPoint which is essentially a home for online marketers also, we know that spamming exist because it is part of online marketing -- whether that is good or bad it is up to each of us.

It is all about marketing. And since Twitter is the in thing these days, spammers are also flocking in there too...

Also, it's pretty easy with tools (or just creative RSS feed manipulation) to only pay attention to your favorite tweeters.

Well as you can tell, there are a bunch of people that use Twitter, not just for common uses, but to sell their product. There are spammers that just use their thread to jsut spam, and some use it to spam and talk to people... But there are quite a lot of people that use it spam and some you may not know. More people are using it to spam than they are for recreation. But its like craigslist, you have to weigh it by how much time you are putting into it vs how many sales you are generating from it. So if you aren't making enough money per time you put in, you may either need to put in more time, or just drop using twitter. I have, its not worth my time, because it didn't convert for my particular product in a fashion that didn't make enough money for my time put in.

I don't always manually follow people, but I do check my stream several times a day and weed out/remove the ones posting worthless content IMO

I think the bottom line is if you want quality followers, add users yourself. Auto-adders only clutter your account with the spam.

Auto followers are ok, but for me, I have to go through and remove some of the crap from time to time.
