I find it's great just to add the site search functionality. I don't use it on every site though typically only the larger sites.
I am going to try adding it to two of my sites that get searched alot and see if I can't make some money from it
well some of my sites have a lot of internal searches run on them because of their content. I am currently using a database driven site search that I have written. What I am going to do instead is replace this with a google search box and see if this might increase my revenue
For sure. The only disadvantage I see with Google Site Search is if your site isn't well indexed, cause it's searching the indexed pages content.
yeah true. But still it isnt the search that makes the money but the clicks! so if people search my site and then see other things within there, they may just click them and I make the money. To be honest I dont mind that they may not find the indexed stuff they need and there is still an option if they look hard enough, for the old search
By the way just added it to the top left of my sea eagles site and I got 9 searches within the last update period. So about 9 searches in 15 minutes is not too bad for a monday
No earning from search box....................being a web user i never use so i m not expecting from any one to do this
Wow, that's amazing.. in my experience the search box always pays very little per click, every once in a while google does something wierd and pays high for that day, but normally its very low. I think its better to use your own internal search and put normal google ads in the results, then you get full click price, not the watered down search click pay.
Can we pre-populate the search term using javascript ? Since altering the code is illegal. If legal, I'm thinking of random search string inserted via javascript. Say when a user enter Mitsubishi Evo categories, the search box suddenly prepopulated, example " jdm mitsubishi "..and that will attrack use to click search.
I've added a search box on a couple of my mini sites, and results have been reasonable with a high CTR. I might try adding it to some of my larger sites as an experiment.
I think I'll give it a try as I have a big content site. What about placements? Where are you guys having biggest successes with placement?
You can do anything you want! I wouldn't recommend it though. Below is coming straight from the horses mouth. Can I alter the AdSense for search code?
