I am currently running a website, with a paypal shopping cart. It is done with dreamweaver. My intentions are to convert it to a drupal with ubercart site in the first of the year. ( little busy now) I would like to spend some time here and there to get familiar with using drupal, setting up the look, and layout before I do the final changeover. I have a spare website I can do this on. Any recommendations or suggestions on how I could do this? I would like to be able to set up the template on the test site and then just bring it over when I do the main
Learning Drupal need more times than other CMS, for unfamiliar user it'll become a nightmare in the beginning but after you know how to use it, everything become easy. Good tutorials to start learning the basic are drupal.org and lullabot.com. If you finish the basic than learn how to make Drupal theme than using Ubercart. Good luck
I dont know WTH bnandika is talking about.. I started using Drupal from knowing nothing, and had my new site up and running within a hour or so, and had it "dialed in" after just a few days. To answer your question: setting up a test site is pretty easy.. get everything the way you want, then move everything to the live site and update just a few config files. of courses that's the simple version, but you get the idea.
