Hi all, I have more or less finished my new website trends site. There are still a few bits to be done: 1) Add a blog, which will each week discuss the top trends for that week, which have potential to make some cash etc. 2) Somehow change the adsense ads to be more relevant (ie hosting, domain names, make cash etc) 3) Change feedback email link to a form. 4) Allow users to search for trends by word, ie search for "health" and get all the related trends and stats about them (when they where popular, how high they ranked etc) 5) More options on where to buy the domains from, and set up the affiliate links on them. Would appreciate any honest and constructive reviews. Cheers, Shane
Just some annoyances - When a trend is clicked, make the old popup disappear when a new one is clicked. - The feedback on the right is very distracting. If someone wants to contact you, they usually look for a link right on top or at the bottom of the page. - the search "from" and "to".... huh? Are you expecting a date in there? what format (mm/dd/yy or dd/mm/yy, etc.?). Use a clickable calendar and make it much easier to sue. Suggestion: - Say what your site is about right below your logo. - Since you have little content, make the font bigger so it "feels more". - Could also link to youtube.
Layout & logo look very nice. It would be better if you linked to a domain registrar like godaddy, one that is better known than UK2. Or you could simply allow the user to choose from some. It'd be hard to integrate that in the interface though. For the twitter trends, why don't you link to the search results as well? The calendar doesn't pop up when you click the date fields. Show more than 10 trends, that's too few. If you can't get more (twitter) consider showing the previous trends as well. Trends don't seem to change much based on date. When I click on year, you should specify somewhere on the page that I am indeed on that page. Even as simple as having the year link have a different bg color so that I know it's selected.
Nor is your comment? I asked for constructive reviews - see the two guys above for an example of what I was looking for, and its not a template, the whole site is custom. With regards to the above comments: 1) Pop up calanders should now work (hadnt transferred the JS file over from the subdomain) 2) Tried to make it more obvious what the custom fields are for 3) Made the menu down the right show which ever page you are on in bold. 4) Fixed the problem so it now only allows one popup open at a time 5) Added some registrar logos to the popups (not linked them through yet or style properly though, thats my next job). Todo: 1) Style popup properly 2) Add link to twitter on twitter results 3) Create "more results" page 4) Change feedback button 5) Add tagline to logo 6) Look into youtube trends
