I see so many people within the SEO field that "live and die" by PR. i wanna stress somrthing - we are promoting the rankings of our websites in search engines, not the PR of it. It's true: achieving good PR will contribute to better and faster indexing of webpages, but i have sen so many good PR websites ranking in the 2nd, 3rd SERP, while websites with a lesser PR that ranks higher (for the same KW of course). there are many aspects of SEO tasks, and not all of them revolves around PR. Just a thought...
yes, you are right, I have PR 1 sites beating the crap out higher PR sites, lol, as a matter of fact, i dont really think that PR is apart of SEO
I do think it's an integral part, I just don't view it as important as most of the folks at the SEO kingdom
It depends on your business model. If your a blog selling blog reviews, a high PR will allow you to sell at higher prices and probably sell more. If you own a directory, high PR will get you more signups... But I agree, for SEO purpose, PR is not that important
Interesting... So if you've got a PR7 website that's linking back to your site it doesn't hold much weight? I thought getting a high PR for your website would get you placed better for your keywords. I also thought getting backlinks from sites that carry high PR was valuable.
PR is important I think. Traffic is much important to all.. But PR will go through with the Traffic you gain....
PR is simply one part of the total webmastering picture. It has some value, but only Google knows at any given time how much or how little value they are granting to it. The nice thing about PR is that you don't have to pay attention to it directly. Any good webmaster will be expending effort to secure good-quality links to his/her website. The PR comes simply as a result of that link-building effort. Build links, and let the PR land where it will. Don't obsess over it.
PR can be gained by getting links from other high pr sites even though they are not relative to your site. Though it helps your PR it does not help your serps in this matter. If all of the links that increased your PR are from relative sites then you are on the right track. I have a forum with a PR 3 and another site with PR2. The PR 2 site gets 100X the amount of traffic the PR 3 sites does.
