    Hi,

need advice on a ppal dispute please > i was the seller

Ok so i made a sale via a digital martketplace today - one of the big ones for amount $xx, YAH! Open my email inbox to find an email from paypal telling me a dispute case had been opened on the transaction and i need to provide more info so it can resolved.

I go to my admin seller ac and copy and paste all the transaction log data about the buyer/transaction and then login into my ppal ac and paste it all in there and provide them as much info as i can. Now i have to wait until is reviewed to decide if i get the money or not.......

All i know is that after making the purchase for a digital ebook guide the buyer downloaded it - then someone contacted ppal and reported an unauthorised transaction for that payment.

From the ip address i can tell the same pc user ip was used to buy and made the download. I got no shipping address as its digital but only a phone number which to me looks fake.

I did a look up on the ip address and find out its a US based company that provides commercial and personal access to VPN ip networks etc. - which makes me think that the sale was paid for with a stolen credit or someone who was trying to hide their tracks...... Or the ppal ac did buy and was authorised but they do chargebacks or reverse the payment after they download as a tactic so they can get it for free ggrrrrr :(

What are my chances of actually get the $? im not too worried about the money but never had this happen before after selling lots of digital items.......

    Thanks all

You have 90% chances of losing the $$ since paypal doesn't support digital product.

Even if the "buyer" looks to be just scamming the system and costing sellers and ppal themselves money bcos they would have got some ppal fees from the transaction if it was not reversed.

Thats a real sham and very disapointing but sort of thought that might be the case :(

Whats to stop everyone doing that if infact the buyer wins the dispute?

Why do the digital marketplaces say ppal is supported blah blah but when things go wrong no body is going to help you........

Buyer has the big chance to win this, So think again when you are selling something for unknown buyers.

    Good luck

As stated above, paypal always favors buyer and moreover if it is digital goods. If you seller then there is very less hope for your to win this dispute.

I have to check it out but i think the only reason the buyer will win the dispute - which is 99% now IS:

You need to be able to prove that you have mailed off a physical hard copy to their shipping address, like a shipping tracking code from sending it. So its like ebay where you need to really provide a hard copy which means any sales marketplace you are using should ask for their mailing address when they pay. To me that will increase your chances of paypal determining the dispute in your favor.

Otherwise its too easy for seller of digital goods anywhere online to have a buyer to this and do a chargeback or reverse by order of their bank or cc company after they have already downloaded it = free copy without paying
