Long Branch, NJ Police took 68 year old Bob Dylan into Custody today. :(

Bob Dylan was in Long Beach on tour with Willy Nelson. While walking around at 5:00 pm passing time, the Police stopped him and then took him into custody after he couldn't present ID.

If he was an illegal alien or with Acorn, the Police wouldn't have stopped him.

That blows. Funny, my 92-year old Estonian grandpa in law underwent the same rigamarole, some years back. The guy has been here since 1946.

Given your politics, I understand why you've made the comments on Acorn and illegals, Bogart, but it's not a good comparison.

Thanks for the news bit, though.:)

He does look like a terrorist without the towel and the beard...kidding on the side, maybe this is the time to re-evaluate the police officer for not knowing a musical legend like Bobby.

It is a shame he was ask for a freaking ID..HAHA HA! Sorry, some cops are stupid.

I'm not advocating that the Police stop illegal aliens and ask them for identification. But in a sanctuary states like NJ, you will never see the Police stop a group of illegals and ask them for ids. It just ain't gonning to happen.

Seems like the Police in Long Beach, New Jersey have nothing better to do than to pick-up Bob Dyaln. No wonder why property taxes are so high. The funny thing is that the 1st cop called for back-up.

When Bob Dylan was recording with the Travelling Wilburys he said: "You can do anything in New Jersey as long as you don't get caught"

He should have been arrested years ago for his horrible singing.

I'm wondering what Obama is going to do about this. He should have everyone over to the Whitehouse to have a beer.

The police officer drove up to Dylan and asked him his name. The following exchange ensued:

"What is your name, sir?" the officer asked.

    "Bob Dylan," Dylan said.

"OK, what are you doing here?" the officer asked.

"I'm on tour," the singer replied.

Good thing that they didn't shoot him

Bob Dylan was smart that he cooperated. Considering that he's 68 years old and the police had 9mm handguns.

Bob Dylan was detained by the police on a public street at 5:00 pm in broad daylight. Imagine someone being detaing in New York under similiar circumstances?

You really wonder why property taxes are so high. We are in a recession but the Long Beach, New Jersey police have the resources to detain Bob Dylan. Like a 68 year old rocker on a public street at 5:00 pm was a threat to public safety.

I wonder how many stimilus dollars Barry Obama sent to Long Beach?

is it his age or his notoriety that makes you think he should be above the law?

The thing is, even when the law is an ass, it has to be fair and it has to apply to everyone.

What law are you talking about. This is the United States of America. People don't have the right to walk public streets in broad daylight at 5:00 pm????

All parties should be drining some beer at the white house ASAP!

My mistake, he didn't break a law. Which is probably why he wasn't "detained", "taken in to custody" or any other euphemism for arrested.

How dare the police talk to white people! Right bogart?

Bob Dylan was detained. Detained is a euphemism. Detained is when the Police take you into custody. Arrested is completely different. An arrest is when crimminal charges are filed.

Btw, Bob Dylan isn't a WASP and I'm not one either.

This is the point, he wasn't detained, taken into custody or arrested, you have just made it up. He was, according to your source, "asked" to accompany the police to a place where someone could vouch for his identity.

Frankly, if two police officers who don't know what bob dylan looks like let a 68 year old "wandering" man who is in a "low income" area go after being told "im bob dylan, im on tour" id be frankly disappointed in them.

Why was this on the news in the first place? Big deal. No doubt was a slow news day.
