something tells me in the not to distance future that INFO's are are easily going to be the 2nd most recognizable extension right next to .COM

i own several .infos but i'm not sure they will rank up behind .coms in the near future. gTLDs have more than 20 years and people i'm talking to (regular internet users, not geeks or domainers) still recognize .nets and .orgs

maybe it's me, but I feel that the NETs and ORG's are stagnent (that could be because the info's are moving up though) in the pecking order behing COM and while they'll never catch COM they'll always be possible pray to the powerful new kid on the block.

The recent auction prices realized are a good sign as well.

IMO the .INFO is a superior sounding and explainable extension to EVERYTHING other then COM.

It may take some more time but I think people are feeling it as well

as long as they stay <$2.oo price per domain people will speculate w/ them, and while a lot will be dropped there is going to be some nicely developed ones. as well as a buzz

inexpensive/cheap/ not as good opinion of them is changing.

    the frenzy is only beginning

buy and buy and hold onto these baltic and mediterrnean priced extensions..boardwalk and park place is right next store..and unlike monopoly...INFO is moving up to the high rent district

I don't think .info's will ever be valued over the .net or .org. I own some info's and they are great for certain types of sites but because of their lower price, they are associated with spammy and junk sites. I believe I read an interview with Rick Latona (one of the top domainers in the world) where he said he wouldn't touch them - maybe in 10 years.

I to think .infos will not be as good as the .nets

I personally search for .nets if .coms are unavailable.

As to this, there can be many elements. but Finally,it will be determined by consumers and the market. If you really want find out whether INFO's are are easily going to be the 2nd most recognizable extension right next to .COM or not, maybe you need some specific investigation about the domain name registration conditon.

The problem with .infos is that alot of them are never turned into sites or businesses, they are very cheap to register and most of the time the ownership only lasts one year since they aren't renewed at their normal price.

If you own some nice .infos I suggest you invest some time into making them valuable for a visitor, if we all work together as a community of investors I'm sure the value of the extension itself will rise.

.info = spam and MFA sites. It's like a warning label.

domain loco makes some really good points....

change isn't going to happen overnight if .INFO is going to break though, but It's obv they're movin on up regardless. how high,..I dunno...but the forward progress is a really good sign

is there anyway to tell how many of each extension was puchased over "x" amount of time month week, year, etc. etc.

I really like .info's just because they sound nice and are so much cheaper.

I think .net or .org will become more popular possibly.
The one word info domains can be good.
    I've seen Degrees.info advertise a lot...something
like this seems valuable and appropriate.

I think .net and .org have dropped severely in popularity. I am not saying that if there was a .info and .net the same price I would pick the .info but I am getting close. Although as they gain popularity they will gain in cost which will make me like them less. If you notice they are second on the GoDaddy dropdown box on the front page for domain search. ABOVE .net and .org.

If your site is ranked in Google, Bing, Yahoo or whatever, what difference does the domain extension even make?? More times than not people are clicking on links and not typing anything in anyway.

I don't think the search engines will discriminate against you for the domain extension, so you'll still get ranked...

It really depends on what the domain will be used for, will it be used for a social network site, then a .net will work. Will it be for an organization then a .org will be ideal. Will it be information on a subject, then a .info will be great!
