The whole point with the trends articles is that they are supposed to only last for a short time. You write the article, it ranks high while the trend is hot, then the trend dies and it doesn't really matter what happens to the ranking of your article because not many people are searching for that topic anyway.

How do you promote them to your visitors? I'm thinking of getting more into CPA, with Email/Zip offers being the most obvious place to start I think, but I'm not sure the best way to present them to my readers.

 

Well done Pete. I think the tip on promoting your articles might have helped a few people here, as I imagine a lot of people end up giving up when they find their traffic slows down a lot as soon as they stop writing which shouldn't really be the case.

Just a quick question if you don't mind answering... In each of your articles do you use anchor text more then once when linking to your landing page? Ie say you wanted to target the keyphrases 'shopping' 'mall' and 'diamond' in an article would you do a text link for all three words back to your landing page or do you just do one textlink back to your LP? Yep, I find that the free offers have a much higher conversion rate then prize entries because everyone loves a good freebie. If the offer relates to what you're promoting then that's even better.

You don't just have to do a poll although it does work pretty well. You could just inframe the offer, make sure it has a call to action.

If you are making a blog you definitely need to ping it to get indexed quicker. Indexing can happen in a little as 5 minutes or 5 weeks, there's no real set method to G's algorithm.

 

I asked Pete this but he never got back to me, so I'll ask here. I set up a blog as per Pete's guide (good guide btw) based on a decent trend, put adsense on it, bookmarked it, all that. I've viewed the blog on and off over the past week or so since I set it up and I can't help but notice the adsense ads have nothing to do with my blog's content. It's mostly on web design and making money from blog related things, just random web stuff. I have a shit click through, not saying that's why, but I would likely get a ton more clicks by having adsense ads which are relevant to my blog obviously, so why would they put up completely unrelated ads on my blog and can I change it to pick what sorts of ads show?

Well let me reword it...How soon have you guys got your trend blogspots indexed after bookmarking and pinging it.

What pinging web do you use and what bookmarking site.

I've been using pingler.com and onlywire.

Pete: Have you tried making one blog just for the trends and then adding different trends to that one blog?
Perhaps it just a big more organized than having the many different blogs. Plus it may get indexed quicker because of fresh new content and because its an existing blog. Don't get me wrong the individual blogs are great too as long as they can get indexed before the trend dies.

But I am waiting to index mine with no luck
