Do you think that celebrities like Ashton Kutcher and even Shaq are paid to tweet on Twitter? Since celebrities started using Twitter and started talking about it on TV, more and more people started using it. If they do get paid, it is a great way for Twitter to promote themselves. Also, quite a few celebrities started advertising products/companies in their tweets.

    Why not?
They're human like us, they eat, sleep and interact with internet like us.
I beleive they're tweeting just like other people who tweets, i don't think they got paid for doing so, in the other hand, i beleive they tweet to make some "marketing" for their selves, you know something to talk about on tv ;)

I think it;s like Garfield. A whole staff behind the scenes. Jim may sometimes come up with the idea but it's someone else putting it down on paper and getting it out there.

I think there's a few ethics celebrities out there though. Paula Poundstone has had her picture taken a few times while on her phone twitter'ing. She's talked (and joked) about it in her standup as well.

Celebrities get paid to just party at clubs, I don't see why twitter would pass on the opportunity to use celebs to promote its brand and there's no reason why those celebs would decline easy money.

Twitter doesn't have the money to pay them. It doesn't make any money - it's a great idea still looking for a way to monetize.

I think celebs see tweeting like any other business. It's a way to promote their projects/products etc.

No, they're all just trying to keep in touch, in a real-time environment.

I know that we have one very famous celeb here on DP, often buying sites. He uses twitter, but the majority of twitting is done by staff on his behalf though.

They get more money from the promotion then they'd ever get from Twitter.
