    Dear balaa_uk,

It seems that several of us went a little bit overboard in this thread. We let our tempers flare and said some things we shouldn't have. So let me be the first to apologize to you, and share this with you:

It happens! Thats why i brought all my domain names to criticdirectory.com--I will not stand for anybody taking this name cus i plan to promote it heavily. I can't afford the extra cost either:( .. i'm using the ".net" for my blog and the others ".org .biz .info .us" i plan to use them somehow to make money form adsense. Anyway, glad i did buy them up. there seem to be a new directory of directories popping up everyweek.:p

Since this thread went to shits and giggles in no time flat ... lemme ask you this:

Is there a good way to brand a dot org?
    I have two banners:

The second one should definetely have .org in it, right?

Yeah, the second one does, huh? But it should say Business Blogs or Business Blogs .org or .ORG?

Yes, if your branding a non .com include the extension. Personally I wouldn't use a business focused site in a .org though.

    dcristo,

I wouldnt get too bent out of shape about it. One of my .com sites has now had every extension bought, and then they went into direct competition with me. Actually, I am hoping they help brand the domain name for me. 9 outa 10 people will come to the .com when typing in a domain.

Are you talking about generic words, or an actual brand such as a word you may have made up, or something else very unique? Because if it's a brand rather than generic, you may have some prior claim to it even if you don't have a trademark, because you thought it up and developed your site first.

If you're into litigation, it could be worthwhile consulting with a lawyer on this. I'm not one, so I don't know how much mileage there is in the idea that trademark rights come from use as well as registration.
