I have bought ACER laptops for quite a while, i wouldn't say they are the best, but i have never had any trouble with them!
I use VAIO for work, not bad. Also have HP. I suppose that HP is better than many other brands and it's not so expensive
I think Toshiba is the best, despite Lenovo.. Toshiba laptops has a high quality cashing which make them stay cool even we run for hours
Thinkpad laptops are the best IMO their depo warranty is great too should you have hardware problems.
Depends on WHY you want the laptop, if for general stuff, any namebrand, though I too like and am using a Dell, I have had bad runs with Sony laptops, and Gateway, but if you don't mind da cost, the toughbook from Toshiba is nice, and also alien laptops. Alien optimizd for gamers but shuld even handle some CAD I think. Thats jus my 2 c.
Dell or gateway. My bro in law has a toshiba, its being fixed every few weeks and the fan on it is sooo annoying, very loud and goes on and off every few seconds. I had a gateway that i got at best buy a few years back and it ran and ran, the only weak thing about it was the video card, otherwise it was great. Freind has a dell xps, he loves it. Uncle has a apple pro, its very slow and the battery burns out all the time. Laptops like Hp and Sony have too much junk on it that u dont need. Good luck, let us know what you get!
Happy, well I think Toshiba makes the toughbook... havent had any problems with em but only toughbooks. Also agree about da XPS that thing is sick. But again depends on what you want it for, even my couple yr old Dell laptop can run WoW, n CoD, but the more advanced games go, and other progz, the more they'll be updated. O and Don I agree about UNIX, its just been waaaaay to long since I was using it.
