once again, why are people posting on threads that are 200, 500, 800, and even 1200 days old ?

as I wrote this there are 5 pages on the front page not including the "faq" that are 200, 550, 800, 1000 and 1200 days old..... 365 days in a year ... 4 are over a year old ... things have changed drastically in the past years.

They're backlink hunters, chances are the ones responsible will never even know this thread exists, let alone have some sort of revelation and suddenly decide to stop doing it. :)

I don't get it - why do some people get bent out of shape about this? Conversations online are disjoint in space and time. Sometimes the delay between responses is minutes, sometimes it is months. As long as it's part of a continuous conversation, I find it nicer to have it all in one place rather than arbitrarily hacked off into a separate thread.

I think that I may bump this thread a couple years from now :)

If its relevant to current issues or answers old questions, I don't see why such threads shouldn't be contributed to.

Those are usually bumped by new members who search for something that they are interested in, and they don't bother looking at dates so they respond, which in turn bumps the thread to the front page.

It gets annoying when day after day you see 2-4 year old threads on the first page. Point is when a thread is titled "what is leading to your adsense success" and it is 3 years old than clearly what was leading to peoples success then and is going to help you now has changed a bit. I watched on one thread a few days back a few people discussing some method a guy had posted it was like 2-3 years old on changing code in ads, and they kept asking if it worked and arguing about if it is allowed or not and such.

once again, I only get upset with this because people are actually reading and taking the content seriously without realizing some of its years old.

I'd give people more credit than that. There's a label right next to the thread title with the age.

But yeah, it's enough to drive the regulars crazy. We have the same problem on a few forums I've been visiting for something like 5 years now.

Most of the bumpers are new members and probably got the thread link from Search.
They don't even bother to look at the Timestamp of the post.

yea, I mean it isn't a huge deal. However I read these forums daily and often and when I keep coming on and seeing these thread displaying things like "the secret to adsense (1248 days old)" or whatever it just makes me think WTF lol. I don't mind reading anyones tips as long as they aren't years old ya know.

oh well, made this thread one night after coming to check in on any new post and seeing like 5 threads that were super old on page 1.
