Question about how Google PR works

Hi all,

I've got a question about Google PR. Say I link to a site's sub page that has a PR0-1 but the top level domain carries a PR6-7. Does Google look at the top level domains PR in their algorithm? Or do they only look at the specific page you're linking to?

So if the top level domains PR is 6-7 and you link to one of their sub pages which is a PR1-0 does Google not show any love?

According to the original pager about PR, Pagerank is a rank of the Page. not of the domain.

On the other hand if the domain is considered important (for example CNN) there is the possibility that a new article (breaking news) will rank much better than older articles that contain the same keywords and have better pagerank.

In your case, i believe that you have a free host that gives you some space in a subfolder. if this is correct then the pagerank or the authority of the host will probably do you no good.

 

My question was more geared towards link building. I just had a discussion with a couple of people on how Google handles PR. We're in the process of trying to link to quality PR websites, but find out that most of the time we get a link, it's to a page off of their top level that carries a significantly lower PR.

So just to verify.

It does not matter how important the domain is. Like you said, if it's a CNN or other high ranking website that carries a PR7 or so on the top level domain but has a sub page with low PR it wouldn't help your site so much.

when it comes to toolbar PR, it is the PR of the page which is linking to your. when it comes to SERP ranking, google does look at the authority of the main site to determine how much weight to assign for a specific backlink

What is the point you linking to other sites? It gives away PR juice from your site to that PR6-7 site. What is the benefit you gain from there?

Try to get a link from that PR6-7 site to your blog. Also, if it is dofollow link, it will help you in pagerank increase in next google update. If it is anchored with keyword and dofollow link, then it will help you in both pagerank and google serp ranking.

 

Google is actually looking on the inner page, i mean the page itself, not the home page

My backlinks are changing everyday(increasing and decreasing)

But my PR is still the Same.!!
