My Tip

So I have a blog that I kinda experiment with. My latest discovery:

The blog is registered at Godaddy , set to expire 09/09/2009
It ranks on page 5 for a particular keyword with 3,340,000 competition.

I went and I renewed the domain till 2012, wrote a new article, posted it, digged it.

It got indexed and cached within minutes.

Guess what: I am on first page, at #5.

My tip: renew domains and extend their registration, Google will treat the domain much better, giving it more trustworthy. You are no longer a temporary url ...

    Anybody experience this?

Kind of doubt that. You probably moved up since you updated your site.

I'm not sure if Google really takes more interest in domains that have been registered longer, but I just went and extended my domains and have seen no improvement yet. I will update if something changes. That would be such a cool hint for us web masters.

I seem to remember Matt Cutts saying that domain expiration dates don't matter at all.
I've never felt the expiration date has any weight whatsoever

Never try this before since i buy the domain for normally 5 years.
However, my posts normally get indexed fast and listed at the good SERP after digg

I 've heard this before. It's difficult to know exactly what causes a change in serps, so it's almost impossible to narrow it down to one factor.

I have seen this recommendation from websitegrader site too. It explains that domains with longer expiration date will gain search engine confidence and will have higher SEO points in their views. Unlike few shorter expiration domains are just meant for sale won't get good credit from SE.

I will disagree with you 110%.

I renewed a domain yesterday, put up a new article, digged it
I made it to 1st page, at # 6 out of 465,000 competition

    Thanks for your input, nontheless
