I have been an amazon affiliate for years and 90% of my commission come from adwords. I understand that amazon will not allow this anymore and that i will lost a steady revenue source. But what will happen to the commission I had already earned and the one I was counting to pay Google for all the clicks I got will they pay those commission or not?
As of May 1, 2009, Associates will not be paid referral fees for paid search traffic. You should be paid -- the no direct ppc rule doesn't start until 5/1/09
Just redirect your traffic through a landing page to Amazon offer ! But as you know Amazon wants a bigger piece of the pie.
Please check your facts before spreading mis-information. The advice above was to change to the amazon.uk program which is not affected by this change. It does not stop in may.
Don't they have a big enough piece of the pie already? I don't rely on ppc, but they sent me a letter saying I had bid on keywords, even though I hadn't. Is Amazon making war on its own affiliates?
Nope, that is fine. All you are saying is that your paid click will now take the visitor to your landing page first, where you have to do the "sell", rather than taking them straight to the Amazon product. There is nothing about not sending PPC traffic to YOUR site in order to then direct them to Amazon.com (I mean direct, as in, encourage, not as in an automatic redirect!) and it would be pretty hard for them to enforce a ban on using PPC to your own site which happens to have Amazon products on it..!
Agreed, that would be silly. I am pretty sure Google don't allow redirects to third party sites through AdWords either.
