Hey Guys, I had to contact my host today after my account suddenly filled 7.5gb of space on the server, when i had only around 75mbs of website files on the server. They have told me there are 'Core Files' being dumped on the account by a script or process running on my website. They also told me they have looked and there are no logs to tell them what is causing the core files to be dumped on my server. What can i do to determine the problem so i can promptly fix it? I am running the latest version of Wordpress with a custom theme. Everything appears to be working properly, but this problem obviously exists, and i have no idea what to do about it. Your advice would be very much appreciated. Andrew. www.celebritybackstage.com <- the website
Use disk space usage facility provided in cpanel to track out where the space is being filled .. And also try to see whether the log files such as error_log has taken huge space .. once this file had taken around 2 Gb in my case .. error_log is present in every directory
Hiya, Thanks for the reply. I know where the core files are located. they are in my public_html directory, each one is hundreds of megabytes in size, but i have absolutely no idea what is causing these files to be generated. How do i learn where the problem is, so that i am able to fix this?
I could probably help if I knew where the actual files were being dumped (which would lead to clues on whats dumping them). Dedicated/VPS hosting?
THe files are being dumped in /public_html/, and lots of them too. In the space of a day, hundreds. I have a shared hosting account with Hostivia. - i have reselller package one at http://hostivia.com/reseller/index.htm Would having ftp access help? If you want to take a look, ill make you an account so you can check it out, if you dont mind?
